Dear Student,
El Camino College is committed to your success and offers a wealth of resources to support you if you are having academic or personal challenges. Our records indicate you have been placed on Academic Dismissal and/or Progress Dismissal as of the end of the Spring 2025 semester. Students find themselves on Academic Dismissal and/or Progress Dismissal for many reasons. We encourage you to appeal for reinstatement, and if approved, attend Fall 2025 by completing the Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal Process.
The “Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal Process” consists of the following three (3) steps:
1. Meet with a counselor to develop an educational plan for Fall 2025/Spring 2026.
2. Complete the Balancing School and Life Workshop.
3. Complete the Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal form online and upload the required documents no later than Thursday, August 14, 2025, by 12:00 p.m.
*Even if you do not have a current education plan, please submit the appeal by the deadline of August 14th to avoid a further delay in your registration, or if you are registered for Fall courses, to avoid being dropped from your classes*
You will receive notice of the status of your petition within 2 weeks after you submit your Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal.
If you are on Academic Dismissal and earned a GPA of 2.0 or higher, or on Progress Dismissal and completed more than 50% of the units you attempted in Spring 2025:
Please complete the 'Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal Process’ no later than 12:00 pm on Thursday, August 14, 2025. You may qualify for automatic reinstatement.
If you have already registered for Fall 2025 courses:
Complete the Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal Process by the deadline for reinstatement consideration. You may be dropped from your Fall 2025 classes before the start of the fall semester if you do not submit a completed appeal form by the deadline and are approved.
Since dismissal is only for one semester, for Fall 2025, if you do not petition your dismissal status, you may register for Spring 2026. However, we urge you to submit a Dismissal Reinstatement Appeal. By seeking out campus resources, including meeting with a counselor to review your academic status and developing an educational plan, you are more likely to return to good academic standing. We believe in you and we look forward to supporting you achieve your educational goals.
