The graphic organizer, "Effective Reading Strategies Worksheet" (below) will help you organize and start brainstorming for your Unit Two Project. It will also help you with this week's Comprehension Quiz. Please, download and fill it out.
Use your knowledge of the following sections from past lessons we have already covered to help you fill-out the different tables in the Worksheet:
KWL Method
SQ3R Method
3 Levels of Questioning Method
Summaries & Reflections
Text Structures
Memory & Bloom's Taxonomy
Determine if each step in each strategy is asking the reader to do something before, during, or after reading.
Figure-out which stage in Bloom’s Taxonomy each step brings the reader to.
Ask yourself if each strategy will be helpful with a typical article/textbook/header structure or a fictional/story structure, like a novel or a story.
Describe what you like and do not like about the strategy.
Like what I am asking you to do with your Unit Two Project, I created a reading strategy graphic organizer that works for me that I call, "Strategies for Highly Effective Readers" (please review it as an example for your Project). If this strategy were to be used with the "Effective Reading Strategies Worksheet" table-format, it would look like this:
After completing the Reading Strategies Worksheet, you should have a cataloged chart of strategies that you might use for your Unit Two Project.
Congratulations! You are done with this lesson. You are now ready to check your understanding with this lesson's comprehension quiz, which can be found in our class's Canvas shell.
Be sure to review your notes and ask questions before hand for clarity if needed.
