Our Review Process
In the spirit of Open Educational Resources (OERs), this collection will also use an open peer review process. While there are several ways to do this, the editor and collaborators on this project will value:
Transparency: Information about the process, reviewers, comments, and timeline will be readily available
Collaboration: Peer review will not be a siloed process but rather an activity happening simultaneously among reviewers, authors, and editors, who will be able to communicate with one another
Public: Reviewers will sign their feedback and their names will be shared alongside the authors.
What this means practically is that:
Multiple reviewers, the author, and the editor will share the same Google doc to have a discussion about ways to improve the author’s chapter before publication.
Turnaround for reviews will be fast and meaningful.
Peer reviewers will shape the direction of the collection as it moves toward publication, taking an active role in its development.
Names will always be shared for authors and reviewers. This is not a blind peer review. While blind peer review plays an important role in academic publications, this is a different kind of collection with different goals.
The final publication will highlight reviewers' contributions as equally important to the success of the collection.
Among other benefits, this approach also allows a larger number of people to be a part of this collection without necessarily needing to propose or write a chapter.
If you'd like to participate in this project as a peer reviewer, please fill out this form. You can choose to both write a chapter and be a peer reviewer or to only peer review or only be an author.
