Claire Komives ran a bioprocess engineering laboratory for 25 years at San Jose State University, training hundreds of students for jobs in the local biotech industries. Managing on a low budget, used equipment was the only way to keep the lab up and running. This model is expanded for EJI to make quality used equipment and lab supplies available to educators who must prioritize the use of the funds for supporting students.
Our mission is to advance STEM education by providing affordable, high-quality equipment repurposed from donations by local industries.
Revenue sustains operations, with the surplus funding scholarships and grants to enhance the critical thinking skills of students.
The refurbished equipment reduces waste and increases accessibility for students, educators, and researchers.
