EISMUN Club aims to train and improve students’ public speaking and leadership skills through debating world issues. Furthermore, debating world issues would allow them to understand significant socio-political Conflicts that occur around the world from various perspectives, potentially enabling them to utilize their critical thinking skills to resolve world problems diplomatically. As a club, EISMUN is responsible for inviting club members to participate in upcoming conferences hosted by international schools across Thailand, training club members to become competent delegates, and organizing our own annual conference. Overall, EISMUN aims to teach students that even the tiniest of opinions from someone of low authority can change the world.
EISMUN foresees members who participate in the club as potential great leaders, as participating in MUN allows students to be put into situations where students would learn to channel their leadership skills through pressure, critical thinking, and simulating real-life world conflicts that would result in improvements in their problem-solving skills. As each conference is themed as a historical or present-day world conflict, joining MUN conferences also allows students to step out of their comfort zones, learn to utilize and improve socializing and public speaking skills, and speak up for the betterment of humanity. EISMUN acknowledges that these skills are fundamental and beneficial, aiming to aid any student who wishes to learn these skills by providing them with learning opportunities, whether in the form of conferences or training workshops. Furthermore, EISMUN aims to foster strong connections between international schools across Thailand, working with other international schools to provide students with learning opportunities. In addition, EISMUN strives to serve both local and global communities with the help of EISMUN ACT, an initiative under EISMUN dedicated to doing charity work through engaging in charitable activities. Over the course of this year, EISMUN aims to improve EISMUN ACT's influence over EIS students with the addition of volunteering opportunities that provide aid to not only communities in need but also students who wish to volunteer.
EISMUN recruits potential students who are willingly interested in participating in club activities. EISMUN hosts two annual conferences: one exclusive to EIS and one open to all schools across Thailand. The reason for this is so that EIS students would have the opportunity to not only oversee how an MUN conference functions within a more forgiving context but also to receive a hands-on experience of an official MUN conference in an inter-school setting. In addition, EIS students will receive training directly from the club, with potential workshops to further teach students about MUN. Furthermore, MUN officers consistently update club members of upcoming conferences from other international schools via the official Line group. The club operates on a conditional basis and only awards certificates to those who attend conferences. These awards aid students to take an interest in more international affairs and to prove themselves that they stand at the stance of nation welfare.
Model United Nations (MUN) is an academic simulation of the United Nations where dedicated students take on the roles of delegates representing various countries. They engage in debates and discussions on a range of global issues. Participants conduct research on the policies of specific countries, hone their negotiation skills, collaborate to draft resolutions, and analyze real-world global challenges. MUN conferences offer a platform for students across the world to deepen their understanding of international relations, diplomacy, and the operations of the United Nations while fostering critical thinking and teamwork skills.
