The mass journal should have 8 journal reflections. In these reflections you should use the priest's homily and the readings for inspiration.
You will need:
A journal (A scribbler/diary/binder with paper). Do not use technology.
Pen/Pencil
Note, you may wish to get a Sunday Missal for this option. Talk to your Parish office or Chaplain as to how to get one. Please note that you are allowed to journal write during mass but please put down your journal during the Eucharistic liturgy.
The first page of your journal, write a response that answers the following questions:
(It is an expectation that legitimate sources are used for this portion: the Catechism, or a conversation with your chaplain/priest).
What is the purpose of the mass?
What is the pinnacle of the mass?
Why do we have Sunday Obligation?
Why do Catholics see the Eucharist as the full body, blood, soul and divinity of Christ?
Include in each journal reflection:
Name of priest celebrating mass and the date
Make reference to the homily
Make reference to the readings
Personal element to reflection
Though this is a personal journal, here are some questions to consider if you are struggling on what to write:
What particular scripture stands out to you and why?
What particular line from the homily stuck out to you and why?
What is going on in your life that makes you relate to the scripture/homily?
The grading of this journal is based on authenticity and completeness and your knowledge of the mass. You will not, and never will be, graded on your faith journey or struggles. You should feel free to be very real in your journal.
