This class offers a unique opportunity to explore a variety of scientific topics. We will be utilizing a variety of different instructional tools, including – but not limited to; interactive computer based technology, laboratory explorations, active class discussion, extensive analysis and application of current literature, and independent research. Students must learn how to become inquiring, knowledgeable thinkers who are capable of principled thought and communicating intelligently. The course of study this year begins with an overview of science skills followed by an array of topics including macromolecules, DNA&RNA structure, organelles of the cell, genetics, evolution, ecology and more. During the year, students will be asked to relate theories and ideas to scientific inquiry conducted in the classroom as well as through self-directed experimentation and design.
