Mission
Our mission is to create a positive team culture by providing the best possible learning environment on the field both in and out of competition. Through using the game of baseball, we will instill and promote the qualities necessary to succeed in life. Our student athletes will support one another as they become upstanding young citizens. We will continue to grow as a baseball program, while building strong relationships with our families, our school, and our community.
GO VIGILANTES!!!
Brief History
The East Helena High School Vigilante baseball team was established in 2022, following the Montana High School Association's decision to recognize baseball as an official high school sport for the spring season of 2023. East Helena was one of 21 teams across Montana that participated in this inaugural spring baseball season, competing in the Southwest Conference. The first Vigilante baseball team consisted of 27 athletes; prominently featuring a strong senior class. Since its inception, the team has successfully managed to play both Varsity and Junior Varsity schedules, thereby gaining invaluable game experience and developing the program from its foundation. Due to the absence of a large enough field in the town of East Helena for high school baseball play, the Vigilantes have utilized the Bob Ryan Baseball Complex in Helena, MT for their practices and games. With the support of players, coaches, families, and community members, Field 13 has become their home away from home.
The program's inaugural pitch was thrown by Mr. Scott Walter, the Chairman of the East Helena School Board, at Ryan Fields on March 18, 2023. On that brisk, windy day, the Browning Indians came to town to face the Vigilantes. With game-time temperatures plummeting to 28 degrees and light snow flurries accompanying the two games. East Helena triumphed coming away with two significant victories to launch the program's start on a high note. Since that opening day in 2023, the Vigilante's have compiled an overall Varsity record of 22-27. As the landcape of High School baseball is continuously changing in Montana, the East Helena Vigilantes are continually moving forward in their growth and development, and are eager to take the field again spring of 2026.
