    • People who have self-direction know what is expected of them and can stay focused on the task at hand. They can be productive and efficient. They understand how they work best and can eliminate distractions and barriers in order to get their work done.

    • People who have self-direction can set goals that help move them forward. They use systems, strategies, and technologies to keep themselves on track. They are able to assess, evaluate, and revise their goals as they work toward them.

    • People who have self-direction can accurately assess gaps in their knowledge and skills. They can identify areas where growth would be beneficial for their personal and professional goals. They can access resources for continued learning and advocate for their needs.
