The military can be an excellent option for students interested in serving their country, gaining valuable skills while earning a paycheck, and exploring career opportunities in more than 4,000 occupations. It may serve as a strong first-job choice and/or a way to save for or attend college. The Armed Forces offer a wide range of training programs that prepare young men and women for civilian careers. Pamphlets describing the variety of military training programs are available in the Career Center.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is available annually at no cost to students. It can be used alone or as part of the ASVAB Career Exploration Program to assist you in discovering your skills and possible career choices. Visit www.asvabprogram.com or ask your counselor or Ms. Vera in the Career Center.
Online test prep for the ASVAB can be found at www.asvabprogram.com, www.military.com and http://asvabpracticetestonline.com/
Students who would like to learn more and speak with a recruiter about available options may schedule a meeting with one of the recruiters assigned to Sheldon. Please see Ms. Vera in the Career Center for more information.
