Welcome to Mr. Silva's Website that contains information on my classes at Smedberg
Here's a little about me:
I have been teaching math for 30 years and have spent the last 24 years here at T.R. Smedberg. During my career, I have been an adviser for Chess Club, Mathletes, MESA, and also the math department chair.
In the classroom, I believe that math and how it applies to the real world helps spark student interest. During the year, I try to include real world applications to the concept being taught. Every year, I include the "Math, Who Needs It?" project, which asks students to find how math in relating to careers that they are interested in.
I enjoy watching the SF Giants, playing sports, coaching PG baseball, using computers, and most of all traveling to new places. I am a true believer that experiencing the world by traveling helps me to grow as a teacher by getting to know new cultures, languages, places, and experiences.
