Action Research
What is Action Research?
Action research is a process in which participants examine their own educational practices systematically using the techniques of research.
The goal of action research is to improve educational practices.
How do we improve anything?
- We need to recognize that improvement is possible.
- We need to set specific goals for improvement.
- We need to plan the changes needed to achieve our goals.
- We need to implement our plan.
- We need to study what happens, and determine the degree to which our plan led to improvement.
- Usually we are not completely successful or see more room for improvement so we try again.
- This is called a Cycle of Improvement.

Release Days
We have funding for each ESIL participant to have one release day for the '19-'20 school year.
It is recommended you work as a team on the implementation of your action plan, or to finish analyzing post-survey data and finishing your project (web site to share your work with others).
Another option is to have the secondary teacher present demo lessons at the elementary site, OR elementary teachers can meet at the secondary site to observe NGSS science lessons.
