Here are some resources for running a light show like ours:
Getting started
Canispater Christmas - Jeff from Canispater Christmas has a wealth of information on how to set up a pixel light show.
xLights xEssentials Videos - A series of videos on xlights (xlights.org) and various aspects of using it to run a light show.
Software
xLights - the software we use to sequence the lights to the songs.
Falcon Player - a Raspberry PI distribution that can be used to run a light show. It handles taking the sequence files made by xlights and farming out packets to all the various controller boards used to relay that data to the actual pixels.
Controllers
Falcon Controllers - the line of pixel controller boards we use in our show.
Kulp Lights - another line of pixel controller boards; most are either incorporated with a Raspberry Pi or a Pocket Beagle board.
For pixels, we use both "Bullet" and "square node" 12v WS2811 pixels:
Mattos Designs - a San Jose based business that can supply pixels and other display elements.
Ray Wu (Aliexpress) - A reputable AliExpress seller who direct ships pixels from China.
Props and Display Elements
Boscoyo Studio - supplier of pre-made choroplast props.
Gilbert Engineering - another supplier of pre-made choroplast props.
RedCarpet - a star generation tool we built; it is what was used to generate the CAD models for the large stars in our display.
