Social Studies

Welcome to Grade 8 Social Studies! Our curriculum this year is focused on Civics: the study of how government works and the rights, duties, and responsibilities of citizens in a society. Throughout our studies, we will examine some early American history topics and focus on developing good informational reading and writing skills. 

The eighth grade Social Studies course overview is posted in the slideshow below and addresses the content, skills, standards, and resources that we will be implementing throughout the school year.  I have also included class expectations.

In addition to being posted on my Social Studies and Team Riptide Google Classrooms, my Week at a Glance is posted below. This gives an overview of what is covered each day (helpful for absent students!), reminders and daily homework. Each week is posted as a side tab, so please ensure you select the correct week.
