I love teaching in the fourth grade at Wealthy Elementary! I have been a teacher for many years and have had many different teaching experiences. After college, I spent a couple of years teaching in a small school in the Dominican Republic. When I came back to Michigan, I taught in a Spanish immersion school where I had to speak in Spanish to my students all day. They spoke English just like you. I am a graduate of Calvin College and I have a master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Go Blue!
My favorite subject to teach is Social Studies. We will be learning about regions around the United States and compare them to Michigan. If you do not enjoy reading, plan on having your mind changed in the fourth grade. I love to read and we talk books every day. You will catch the book fever! Also, I love to play learning games. Our class plays a lot of games through the school year.
Outside of school, I love to spend time outdoors with Mr. Tinholt and our two children. I have a daughter who is in her first year of college and my son is in 11th grade. I spend a lot of time watching my son in the marching band and play tennis. As a family, we love to go hiking and fly-fishing. We love to do anything outdoors especially camping in our vintage trailer.
