Scholarships

Scholarships will be added as they are received by the Guidance Office. While we are able to provide a list of possible scholarships available, other opportunities may be available at places of employment, religious affiliations, clubs, etc. and we strongly encourage all seniors to reach out to their contacts outside of school about these potential additional resources. Most colleges/universities will also house an Office of Scholarships or University Foundation that will have scholarships available to incoming Freshmen. Please check with your intended school about any financial assistance they may have available.

2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship

The 2020 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship is now open to applicants. To apply, visit our application portal at https://greenecountyfoundation.communityforce.com.

The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship program offers four-year, full-tuition scholarship to a Greene County student who intends to work toward a baccalaureate degree at any accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. The scholarship also provides $900 per year for required books and equipment.

To be eligible to apply, students must attend a Greene County, Indiana high school and/or reside in Greene County, Indiana; students must be on track to receive their high school diploma no later than June 30, 2020; students must be planning to attend a college or university in the state of Indiana.

Bart Burris EG Football Scholarship

The Bart Burris Eastern Greene Football Scholarship is for a graduating senior from Eastern Greene High School who was involved with the EGHS Varsity Football Program during their Senior year.

Paul Barton “Bart” Burris was a 2005 graduate of Eastern Greene High School. He tragically lost his life in an automobile accident on June 17, 2007. In order to celebrate the life of Bart, his family established the Bart Burris Eastern Greene Football Scholarship with the Greene County Foundation.

Bart was a sophomore at Vincennes University majoring in Business Management. At the end of his freshman year, he was inducted into Alpha Beta Gamma, International Business Honor Society and was on the National Dean’s List. He was later selected as a laureate scholar for the International Delegation of Business with the opportunity to study abroad in Australia, China, or Central Europe. It was his dream to graduate VU and continue his studies at Indiana University.

Bart and his family were very instrumental in getting the Eastern Greene Varsity football program and the community league started at Eastern. The scholarship established in his name will help to commemorate the love Bart had for football and the true character that he displayed both on and off the football field. Bart was described “as a friend to everyone.” He was always ready with a smile and a helping hand. The recipient of his scholarship will help to continue the dream Bart had of playing football and continuing his post-high school education. Please apply through Greene Co. Foundation! Dale and Tillie Jessup Scholarship

The Dale and Tillie Jessup Scholarship is intended for graduating high school seniors who have attended a Greene County high school for all four years and who have been a resident of Greene County, IN or Clay County, IN for those four years. Applicant must be planning to major, on a full-time basis, in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.

Dale and Tillie Jessup have established a unique scholarship fund for Greene County, Indiana high school graduating seniors. The Jessup’s have donated 100 acres of farm land to the Foundation. The land is leased for farming and the proceeds are used to provide scholarships to students in financial need.

Students awarded the Jessup scholarship as a graduating high school senior may re-apply in subsequent years for additional awards. Please apply through Greene Co. Foundation! Deadline is February 27, 2020.

FAITH CHRISTIAN SCHOLARSHIP

The Faith Christian Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors that attended any Greene County high school at the time of graduation; it is also open to home-schooled students who are graduating. Applicants must be planning to attend a two- or four-year accredited post-secondary institution in the state of Indiana.

The Faith Christian Scholarship is a donor-advised scholarship established by the deacons of Faith Christian Church in Bloomfield, IN as a result of a bequeath by Francis Gainey. Ms. Gainey understood the importance of education and wanted to help those students attend college who might not otherwise have the family support or means to attend. The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years, based on academic performance. Students will need to show proof of their academic progress each spring semester to be considered for scholarship renewal; a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher will be considered adequate. Hollee Lent Nursing Scholarship

The Hollee Lent Nursing Scholarship is intended for graduating high school seniors from any Greene County high school who intend to enroll in a nursing program at Vincennes University, Ivy Tech, Indiana State University, or Lincoln Trail College.

The scholarship is renewable for a second year if the student presents written documentation of their acceptance into a nursing program and has maintained a “C” average. 50% of the annual scholarship award amount will be awarded the first year of the scholarship; 150% of the amount will be awarded the second year upon the recipient’s acceptance into a qualifying nursing program.

Hollee Lee Lent was a registered nurse at Bloomington Hospital when she passed away on August 19, 2005 at the age of 30. The Hollee Lent Nursing Scholarship was established by members of her family who wished to remember her and her caring spirit.

Note: The Hollee Lent Nursing Scholarship will only be online and available for applicants in even-numbered years (e.g. 2018, 2020, etc.) Please apply through Greene Co. Foundation! Deadline is February 27, 2020.

Ivy Tech/Mutual Bank Scholarship

The MutualBank/Ivy Tech Scholarship is intended to honor a graduating senior from Greene County, Indiana who will be attending Ivy Tech Community College. Awarded to individuals who exhibit achievement through the exercise of good character, perseverance, and determination. Students must be planning to attend Ivy Tech Community College.

Stanley Barkley of Bloomfield established the MutualBank/Ivy Tech Scholarship Fund in 2005 to honor a graduating senior from Greene County who will be attending Ivy Tech Community College. Please apply through Greene Co. Foundation! Deadline is February 27, 2020.

Paul D. Myers Scholarship

The Paul D. Myers Scholarship is intended for a graduating senior from Eastern Greene High School who intends to pursue a two- or four-year degree in business or a related field. Applicants should be planning to attend an accredited Indiana college or university, and should have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher. The Paul D. Myers Scholarship was established in 2015 by Mr. Myers’ children in honor of his legacy, and their wish to support Eastern Greene students and their educational pursuits. EG Special Achievement Scholarship

These scholarships are intended for graduating seniors from each Greene County high school who intend to enroll as full-time students at an accredited college or university.

The Special Achievement Scholarships were established by the Greene County Foundation Board of Directors to honor the special achievements of graduating high school seniors in Greene County, IN. One award shall be given for each Greene County high school. Please apply through Greene Co. Foundation! Deadline is February 27, 2020.

NEXT GENERATION HOOSIER TEACHERS SCHOLARSHIP

Aspiring Indiana teachers can apply for up to $30,000 in financial aid with the Next Generation Hoosier Educators Scholarship through the Indiana Commission for Higher Education. The scholarship provides up to $7,500 per year of college (up to $30,000 total) for top performing Hoosier students who commit to teaching in Indiana for five years after earning their degrees.

To qualify, students must either graduate in the highest 20 percent of their high school class or earn a score in the top 20th percentile on the SAT or ACT. To continue earning the scholarship in college, students must earn a 3.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least 30 credit hours per year. Current college freshmen and sophomores are eligible for the scholarship, but priority will be given to high school students.

Finalists will be selected by Jan. 10, 2020 to be interviewed in Indianapolis on March 14, 2020. Students selected to receive the scholarship will be notified by April 3, 2020.

Interested students should apply by Nov. 30, 2019 at ScholarTrack.IN.gov.

Rural Health Scholarship (Indiana State University ONLY)

2020-2021 Scholarship Information:

  • Full in-state tuition

  • Open to Indiana residents only
  • Admission deadline: December 1
  • Requirements (listed below) must be satisfied by December 1.
  • Scholarship application must be submitted by December 15. Application opens October 1.
  • To be awarded this scholarship, students must be entering ISU fall semester.

Indiana State University, in partnership with Indiana University School of Medicine, offers a unique scholarship opportunity designed specifically for applicants who have a strong interest in providing care to family and friends in rural Indiana, specifically as a primary care physician. This program is not designed for students interested in becoming nurses, physicians' assistants, or any other allied health occupation.

For consideration for this award, candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, a 1270 SAT (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math) or a 27 ACT, and reside in rural Indiana.

Selection is HIGHLY competitive and based upon academic and personal accomplishments, as well as performance in a winter interview competition.

Vincennes Scholarship

Attention seniors planning to or thinking of attending Vincennes University in Fall 2020!

If you are planning to attend or undecided about attending Vincennes University in the fall, PLEASE make sure you fill out this scholarship application ASAP. HENDRICKSVILLE AREA ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

Hendricksville Area Association is giving away a $600 scholarship to a student of Beech Creek Township to assist with school expenses. You must be graduating high school from an accredited Indiana High School, a full-time Beech Creek Township resident, maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 (include transcripts/grades), and have already been accepted by a 2- or 4-year university or trade school. Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust

The Indiana Breast Cancer Awareness Trust is currently accepting applications for the Nancy Jaynes Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship of up to $2,500 is awarded to an Indiana High School Senior(s) whose parent is battling breast cancer or who has lost a parent to breast cancer. Please see the Guidance Office for an application. Deadline to apply is January 31, 2020.

Greene Co. Farm Bureau Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial assistance for a student to further their education. The scholarship(s) is awarded based upon various criteria that reflect the values and purposes of Greene County Farm Bureau to promote and advocate for agricultural and rural needs. Please provide sufficient details and information about your qualifications to give the judges a clear picture of your future plans.

Qualifications: Applicants should be a student member or parent or guardian with INFB membership for at least 1-2 years, should be a high school senior, accepted or applied to career tech/vocational, 2-year, 4-year, continuing education, etc, career path in Agriculture or related field.

Joseph B. Williams Memorial Scholarship

The Central Indiana Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) is sponsoring our 6th Annual scholarship open to all Indiana graduating high school seniors that plan to pursue a career related to the plastics industry. Please note that due to low applicants in past years the scholarship committee approved a modification of the eligibility criteria allowing a broader range of STEM majors for both 2 year and 4 year degrees. Bedford Board of Realtors Scholarship

Bedford Board of Realtors is pleased to continue the Scholarship Fund for the 2019-2020 school year. Scholarships will be presented to up to 2 senior students ($250/each student). Students must be a child, stepchild, grandchild, or legal ward of a primary or secondary member of the Bedford Board of Realtors and live in one of the following counties: Lawrence, Orange, Greene, Washington, Martin, Monroe, or Jackson . Wabash Valley Herb Society

The Wabash Valley Herb Society, Inc. will be awarding Martha Daniel-Joan Stevenson-Marty Mertens Memorial Scholarships int he amount of $1000 for the 2020-2021 academic year. These scholarships are available to high school seniors, college students, and adults pursing a course of study in an herb-related field. This may include a wide variety of careers, such as medicine, journalism, culinary arts, restaurant management, agriculture, nutrition, pharmacy, etc. Students interested in applying should stop by the Guidance Office for an application. Indiana Sheriffs' Association Scholarship

The Indiana Sheriffs' Association is seeking applicants for a scholarship for qualified students interested in pursuing an education/career in criminal justice. Applicants must be an Indiana resident committed to pursuing a career in law enforcement at an Indiana college or university AND applicants must be a current member, dependent child, or grandchild of a member of the Indiana Sheriffs' Association. Applications may be picked up in the Guidance Office. Deadline to apply is April 1, 2020.

Greene County Veterans' Council Scholarship

The Greene Co. Veterans' Council is happy to announce their 2020 project to award a $1,000 scholarship to a 2020 senior from one of the Greene County High Schools. This year's essay topic is:

"Is the American Dream still alive, does it still work, and is it worth pursuing?"

Students should type their essay in 750-1000 words. Entry deadline is Monday, April 6, 2020 at 4:00PM. Please see the Guidance Office for an application.

INVested Indiana Scholarship Contest

The scholarship is open to any student ages 16 and up and is for $1,000! If an underclassman wins, we will hold the money for them till they graduate and head to college. This scholarship is awarded 5 times in a calendar year as a sweepstakes.

Wabash Valley Officials Association Scholarship

The Wabash Valley Officials Association will be giving scholarships in the amount of $500 to a student that meets the following qualifications:

  • Must be a graduating senior who has participated as an athlete or team manager for a period of two (2) years while attending school
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Must plan to further your education in Fall 2020
  • Must exhibit good school and community citizenship

Jaden Lauderdale Memorial Scholarship

Applicants must be a graduating senior of a public Greene County, Indiana school: Bloomfield, WRV, Eastern, Shakamak or Linton High Schools. They must be pursuing a career in the medical field. (examples: dr, nurse, dental, etc.). Please visit the Guidance Office for a paper application. Scholarship deadline is March 27, 2020.

Steps to Success Scholarships

Indiana Extension Homemakers Association (IEHA) Steps to Success Scholarship's. These five (5) scholarships are each for $500 with four (4) for a traditional school and one (1) for a vocational school program. Please visit our website www.ieha-families.org under contacts the scholarship will go to the Immediate Past President, there is a link for that email address. As this position changes year to year that is the best way to submit the application. Deadline to apply is May 1, 2020.

ISTA Scholarships

All ISTA members are urged to solicit high school seniors to apply for ISTA scholarships. Each ISTA scholarship listed below is a $1,000 renewable award. Application deadline is March 1. (Additional information.)

  • ISTA Career Scholarship - Dependent of an ISTA member.
  • ISTA Educator Scholarship - Dependent of an ISTA member who is planning to pursue a degree in education.
  • Justine M. Harrell Memorial Scholarship - Student planning to pursue a degree in education.
  • Damon P. Moore Scholarship - Ethnic minority student planning to pursue a teaching license.
  • Louis B. Russell, Jr. Memorial Scholarship - Ethnic minority student who plans to pursue industrial arts, vocational education or technical preparation at an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • ISTA Foundation District Scholarships
  • The ISTA Foundation offers scholarships through area district councils.
  • ISTA members may nominate eligible students for two different ISTA Foundation District Scholarships:
  • ISTA Foundation District Scholarship – One $700 scholarship will be awarded by each *District Council. Winner will be chosen by random draw of all eligible nominations received.
  • ISTA Foundation Retired Scholarship – If ISTA-Retired reaches their fund-raising goal, two $2,500 scholarships will be awarded.

Eligibility:

  • Candidate must be a child, stepchild, grandchild, or step grandchild of an ISTA member.
  • Candidate must have at least a C average in high school.
  • Candidate graduated from a public high school in December or will graduate in May/June of current school year.
  • Candidate will continue his/her education at a formal accredited training program (apprenticeship, trade school, cosmetology, etc.) or will attend a 2 to 4 year accredited college or university.
