My name is Brandon Hemsing. I am a Third Grade Teacher at South Point Elementary. I like to think of myself as a "Jack of all trades and a master of none.", even though I do have a Masters Degree in Education. Somehow, it all works out. Trust me!
I love teaching because it allows me to wear many different hats throughout the day. Besides being the Teacher, I may also have to be the Doctor, Psychologist, Councilor, Detective, Referee, Artist, Friend, Repairman, Comedian, Politician, Juggler, Entertainer and many more. It's never boring! I'll wear the hat that's going to make a positive difference in a students life in order to help them be happy, healthy and grow.
I've been a teacher in East Grand Forks for almost 25 years and have worked in the school system even longer. My wife (Rachel) and I moved here in 1993. She was hired as a Special Education Teacher. Since then, we have raised a son (Zane, who is married to Ellen and have a daughter together, Emilia) and daughter (Kiersten) and had many wonderful adventures. Losing our house to a flood in 1997 wasn't one of them.
I love fishing, hunting, sports, cooking, photography, camping, traveling with my family, and our Country.
I am a Retired Veteran. I served for 20 years in the Army and had many opportunities to travel the world. Because of my service, I gained a very deep appreciation and love for our Country. I enjoy sharing that and some of the adventures with my students. That's another "hat"......Tour Guide to the world.
