Mrs. Kallock and Ms. Driscoll will provide daily zoom reading lessons to the Title One students. The students in Title One were given a folder with the reading materials they will need for the zoom sessions. Stapled to the front of the folder was their specific Title One zoom time. The zoom link will be located in their Google Classroom account under the Classwork tab. Fridays are early release days for all students, therefore there will be no zoom sessions on Fridays after lunch.
The reading materials in the folder are from Read Naturally, a program that enables students to improve their reading fluency. Fluent readers identify a wide range of words automatically. As a result, they can focus on meaning rather than word recognition when they read. Read Naturally is based on several research-based theories including: Students become good readers by reading. Reading along with a more proficient reader improves word recognition and fluency. Reading a passage several times improves fluency and comprehension.
As an optional Title One reading activity, the students will have access to an online site called ReadWorks. The students can access the ReadWorks site through their Title One Google Classroom account under the Classwork tab. Students have a choice as to which article they would like to read/listen to and then type a response to the article on the site’s book of knowledge. I will read and respond back to the students within the book of knowledge. Students can read my feedback to their post by clicking on the blue speech bubble within each post.
Reminders:
1. Title One students will access all Title One links through their Google Classroom account (click on the Classwork tab)
2. No zoom sessions on Fridays after lunch due to early dismissal
3. Zoom etiquette will be expected by all zoom participants
4. Students need to have their Title One folder containing the reading materials with them at the Title One zoom sessions
