Meet the Staff

Rachel Hemsing

Graduated from MSU with a degree in Special Education. She has been teaching in EGF since 1993. Mrs. Hemsing is married to a 3rd grade teacher, Mr.Hemsing, and has two EGF graduates, Zane and Kiersten. Mrs.Hemsing is excited for her new role as GRANDMA as her son and daughter-in-law are expecting a baby girl this winter!

Hailey Karas

Graduated from WSU with a degree in Special Education and from CSP with a Masters in ASD. She has been teaching since 2013. Mrs. Karas moved to EGF in 2017 with her husband, Blake. They welcomed their son, Hudson, in May of 2018 and his little brother, Beckett, in June of 2021. Their house is full of chaos, especially when their dog, Griffey, joins in!

Chelsey Mattison

Graduated from UND with a degree in Special Education and Elementary Education. She began teaching in EGF in 2020 after being a student teacher in the district at multiple schools. You may remember her as Ms. Johnson, but she now goes by Mrs. Mattison after getting married to her husband Jake in August of 2021 where their dog, Remi, was an usher!

Shelly & Nelly are Turtley Awesome!

Meet our classroom Pet turtles! Shelly and Nelly haven't always been together, but now that they are we can't keep them a part! Mrs. Karas has had Shelly since her first year of teaching and Nelly joined the family during the summer of 2019. Shelly and Nelly love their life at school, where they get to help kids everyday! There's no problem that some turtle time can't fix!
