Description and Goals of the Course:
This is a full-year course, and Students will fully explore 3-dimensional design techniques in working with sculpture and pottery. Clay will be our primary building material. Students will understand the theories behind clay and clay bodies, finishing (glazing) and firing the clay, the potter’s wheel, hand-building and sculpture techniques. As we do this, we will link the student’s work to the Elements of Art and Principles of Design, art history and culture. Students will learn to assess their and others’ work both by creating, writing, and speaking.
I use Google Classroom for all assignments. Your student is capable of working on the assignments from any internet-capable computer. As a guardian, you are not able to directly sign into the classwork, but your student can at any time on any day. Please ask your student to show you their work. Images of All student Projects will be posted in ArtSonia.
Artsonia is the world's largest collection of student art, published by teachers and students from around the world. Parents and family can view the art online, leave comments, and order keepsakes featuring the artwork.
