ScribeIt Privacy Policy

ScribeIt ("we," "us," or "our") is a browser extension operated by Eeezentek Incorporated that records browser workflows and automatically generates step-by-step documentation (SOPs) with screenshots, AI-rewritten step descriptions, and optional voice narration. This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By installing or using ScribeIt, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

ScribeIt collects the following categories of information, and only when you actively use the relevant features:
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your email address and basic profile information from that provider. We do not receive or store your third-party account password.
Recorded workflow data. When you start a recording, ScribeIt captures the steps you perform in your browser — the actions taken (such as clicks, text entry, navigation, and scrolling), the page titles and URLs involved, and screenshots of the pages at each step. This data is what forms your generated SOP. Recording only occurs after you explicitly press "Start Recording," and stops when you press "Stop."
Voice narration (optional). If you enable voice narration, ScribeIt uses your microphone and your browser's speech recognition to transcribe what you say into text step descriptions. Audio is processed in real time to produce a text transcript; we do not retain raw audio recordings. Voice narration is off unless you turn it on, and your browser will ask for microphone permission before it is used.
Usage and billing information. We store your subscription plan (free or Pro), counts of certain feature usage (such as AI rewrites used in a month), and storage usage. If you upgrade to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Technical information. To operate the service we process standard technical data such as authentication tokens and timestamps associated with your account and recordings.
ScribeIt does not track your general browsing activity. Outside of an active recording session that you have explicitly started, the extension does not capture the pages you visit, the actions you take, or screenshots. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your recorded content or voice transcripts to serve advertising.
We use the information we collect to:
Provide the core service — recording workflows and generating documentation with screenshots and step descriptions
Transcribe voice narration into step text when you enable that feature
Improve the clarity of step descriptions using AI rewriting (see "Third-party services" below)
Sync your recordings across your devices and generate shareable links when you choose to share
Manage your account, subscription, and billing
Enforce free-plan limits and communicate with you about your account
ScribeIt relies on the following third-party providers to deliver its features. Each processes data only as needed to provide their part of the service:
Supabase hosts our database and file storage, including your account record, recordings, steps, and screenshots. See Supabase's privacy policy at https://supabase.com/privacy.
Stripe processes subscription payments. When you upgrade, your payment details are handled directly by Stripe under their privacy policy at https://stripe.com/privacy. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but not your card details.
Anthropic (Claude API) provides the AI that rewrites your step descriptions to be clearer and more professional. When you use the AI rewrite feature, the relevant step text is sent to Anthropic for processing. See Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
Google and Microsoft provide optional single sign-on. If you use one of these to sign in, that provider shares your email and basic profile with us according to their own policies.
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
Shareable links you create. When you choose to generate a public share link for a recording, anyone with that link can view that specific SOP, including its steps and screenshots, until you deactivate the link. You control whether and when to create these links.
Service providers. With the third-party providers listed above, solely to operate the service.
Legal requirements. When required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request.
Business transfers. In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
We retain your account information and recordings for as long as your account is active. When you delete a recording, it is removed from your account. When you delete your account, we delete your associated account data and recordings. Backups and provider-side copies may persist for a limited period as part of normal operations before being overwritten.
You can:
Access and review your recordings within the extension
Delete individual recordings at any time
Delete your account, which removes your associated data
Turn voice narration on or off, and grant or revoke microphone permission through your browser settings
Manage or cancel your subscription through the billing portal
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU/UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act — including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and to request a copy of it. We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport, hashed passwords, and access controls that restrict each user's data to their own account. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
ScribeIt is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
We are based in Canada, and our service providers may process data in Canada, the United States, and other countries. By using ScribeIt, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of ScribeIt after an update means you accept the revised policy.
