Prof.(Dr.) Santanu Das received B.E. in Electrical Engineering and M.E.E (with specialization in Power Electronics & Drives) degrees both from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (Erstwhile BESU / BECDU / B.E. College), Howrah, India, and then, received PhD in Electrical Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Dr. Das is currently working as a Professor and Head, Electrical Engineering Department, Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, Jalpaiguri, India. He has more than 20 years experience in academia and research. Dr. Das has published more than 70 research papers in reputed international journals and conferences, including IEEE transactions. He has also authored one book of McGrawHill publisher for UG electrical engineering students. He has guided many scholars towards achieving their PhD and PG degrees. Dr. Das has carried out several projects as PI funded by DST and AICTE. His current research interests include Condition monitoring of electrical equipment, Power quality event detection, Signal Processing, PLC based motion control, Power Electronics and Drives, Developing AI based health assessment algorithms for electrical apparatus and equipment. He is presently a senior Member of IEEE. Dr. Das is also the recipient of the prestigious national level PPSA (POSOCO Power System Award) for his significant contribution in doctoral research.

Co-ordinating externally funded research projects. Taking up initiatives to fetch research funds from reputed external funding agencies such as, AICTE, DST etc. to set-up aptly equipped research laboratories in the department.
