GIVING A SPEECH

1. Cultural Awareness

You have been asked to give a speech on cultural awareness at the beginning of the new academic year as there are so many exchange students in your school. In your speech, define how you understand cultural awareness, why it is important and how it can be shown in the everyday life of the school. Write the speech. 

2. An entrance-exam speech

You have taken the written exam for entrance to university or some other institute of higher education. You have been asked to make a speech to your prospective teachers in which you must convince them of your suitability for the course. What could you say to make a good impression? Where are you applying to, and what is your chosen subject? What makes you stand out from the other candidates? 

3. AN anti-doping speech

You are Finland’s representative in the annual international congress of WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). You are expected to tell your fellow delegates about the doping situation in Finland in your speech to the general assembly. How will you present Finland’s view?

4. A speech

You have spent a year as an exchange student and now are asked to give a farewell speech at the graduation ceremony. Think of all the points you will like to talk about and make your speech exciting with examples and real life situations.

5.  Chalk and Talk or More Modern Technology?

You have been invited to give the students’ point-of-view in a youth delegation discussing what makes good teaching. Are traditional methods, like blackboards and exercise books, enough, or do we need the latest gadgets? Write your speech.

7. A candidate for leadership of a political party tries to persuade members of the party to vote for him/her.

8. A speech commemorating the anniversary of an important battle/peace treaty

9. A victory speech you will give the night you are elected President.

10. A welcoming speech to a group of Chinese students and teachers who are visiting your school.

11. A speech

A Finnish person or a Finnish group has won an important competition or otherwise become distinguished, for example in 

music, arts or sports. As a representative of the city youth council you are giving him/her/them a welcoming speech at the airport in front of the international press. Write this speech.
