Foundations of ALOHA
Aloha and welcome to our 28th cohort of our Foundations of Aloha program! We are looking forward to spending 5 weeks with you as we explore and deepen our practices of ALOHA: Akahai, Lōkahi, ʻOluʻolu, Haʻahaʻa, and Ahonui. Guided by the teachings of Auntie Pilahi Paki via our work with renowned storyteller Pono Shim, we hope this program helps us all build a strong foundation of ALOHA to stand on. We will start cohort 28 on March 31, 2024. If you have not yet registered, please do so and join us on this journey!

A supply kit that we lovingly call “The Box” has been funded during previous cohorts through generous support from Omidyar ʻOhana, Castle Foundation, American Savings Bank, Hawaii Life Charitable Foundation, Atherton Foundation, Office of Hawaiian Education, Oahu Economic Development Board, and individual donors who help us provide materials for families and educators. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to EI to help fund boxes for this and future cohorts, we would gratefully accept the support we have a donation page linked below or you can contact us if you would like to send us a donation directly rather than online.

Our amazing cohort member and educator Trisha Kodama wrote this beautiful piece about Foundations of ALOHA and her journey through the cohort.
We spent some time with Sterling Higa from Hawaii Business Magazine reflecting on our Foundations of ALOHA program. Here is the link to the piece if you’d like to read more.
Here are some of our previous EI Newsletters, where we share about Foundations of ALOHA and our other programs. We invite you to read the back issues where you will find stories about schools, children, and organizations doing amazing and inspiring things.
Mahalo!
The Box and the FOA program itself has been funded during previous cohorts through generous support from Omidyar ʻOhana, Castle Foundation, American Savings Bank, Hawaii Life Charitable Foundation, Atherton Foundation, Office of Hawaiian Education, Oahu Economic Development Board, and individual donors who help us provide this opportunity for families and educators. Beyond financial contributions, we welcome and embrace multiple forms of capital: spiritual, cultural, natural, intellectual, experiential, just to name a few. If you would like to contribute time or expertise to the Foundations of ALOHA program or any of our other programs, please let us know - we love learning from our community!
