Hi Everyone,
Hope you are doing well. First off, we just wanted to thank you for being patient and communicating with us frequently as we try to set things up.
We are pleased to inform you that our D2L site is up and running. We will have 3 “shells” (aka sites) for you to check.
One will be our homeroom page, a second will be a grade 9 math/science page and a third will be a humanities page.
Ms Aichele and I, along with the grade 9 team, are in the process of updating the content. For now, please explore the page.
Listed below is your first task. Please complete the D2L Scavenger Hunt and Linear Inequalities Check-in (under quizzes) by end of the week. The purpose of these short tasks is to get you comfortable with the new D2L (re: Desire 2 Learn) site.
This is not for marks - do not freak out :)
All you need to do is complete it so we can assess how well you are able to independently follow written instructions and navigate the site. The Grade 9 teaching team is using this information to see who may need extra check-ins and/or support next week when the first assignments are posted.

All academic information such as announcements, tasks and other useful resources from now on will be posted onto on the subject specific D2L pages. Any specific information (i.e.: schedule of availability, contact information, jokes, podsite virtual meetings to keep our community tight etc.)
Please check D2L sites daily for updates.
Thanks again,
Ms Aichele and Mr. Charania

RN.2. Explain and apply the order of operations, including exponents, with and without a calculator
Key Ideas: What is BEDMAS? What's the difference between positive/plus and negative/minus? How do positives and negatives interact during addition/subtraction/multiplication/division? What strategies can be used to input the correct order of operations into a calculator?
Vocabulary: BEDMAS, "Order of operations", positive, plus, negative, minus, number line
This Week's Learning Intentions:
1) I can model and compute the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of positive and negative rational numbers to solve problems.
2) I can apply BEDMAS order of operations to solve problems with rational numbers.

Outcome:
BD.1. Investigate and interpret diversity *within* and *between* species, and describe how diversity contributes to species survival
Key Ideas:
Why is biological diversity beneficial? What does diversity "within species" and "between species" mean? What is a niche and how does it relate to an organism's survival?
