How many books can I borrow from the Wangaratta High School Library?
How much adventure can a single school backpack carry? Each student may borrow up to three books at once. Think of it as a literary picnic basket, perfectly sized for wandering through different worlds. You might fill your basket with two tales on Monday morning, then add anorher on Thursday afternoon. Or perhaps you will gather all three treasures in one glorious haul, like a dragon hoarding shiny gold in its cave. Three books means three different doors to open, three new friends to meet, and three chances to get lost in a story before you're ready to return them and start all over again.
How long can I borrow library books for?
Time moves differently inside the pages of a book, but outside, we do have a little clock to keep track of things! Each student gets a generous three-week window to let their chosen story unfold. That’s twenty-one days to get lost in a mystery, conquer a fantasy world, or unravel a scientific secret.
Can I renew my books?
Sometimes a story refuses to end just because the clock ticks down. Perhaps you’re on the edge of a cliffhanger, or maybe the dragon hasn’t yet been defeated, and the journey feels too precious to abandon. The good news is that your adventure doesn’t have to stop! Yes, all students can renew their books to extend the loan period. Think of it as purchasing a ticket for a second leg of the voyage. To do this, you’ll need to visit the library desk, where the keepers of the collection reside. Simply approach them and ask to extend your loan.
What happens if I lose or damage a library book?
Sometimes, even the most faithful storybooks decide to embark on an unscheduled adventure and wander away from their owner. Other times, a book might return with a few battle scars from a particularly passionate reading session.
If your book goes missing or arrives back looking a little worse for wear, the most important thing is to speak up. Please report the situation to the library as soon as possible. If you cannot visit in person, you can contact the school directly on (03) 5723-0500.
Can I bring food into the library?
Ah, the age-old battle between the appetite and the adventure! While your tummy might rumble like a distant dragon, the library is a sanctuary for delicate pages and quiet thoughts. To protect the library and the collection from the "crumb monsters" and sticky spills, no food is permitted. Think of it as keeping the castle clean for the knights and wizards who dwell within the books. Liquids are welcome, but only bottled water with a secure lid. Imagine your water bottle as a tiny, sealed treasure chest. If it leaks, the map gets ruined. So please, keep those caps tight and your thirst quenched safely.
NOTE: No drinks near the computers. Electronics are shy creatures that dislike sudden showers, and a spilled sip could silence their magic forever. Keep your beverages away from the keyboards, and your devices will keep working their wonders for you.
Can I bring my school bag into the library?
Ah, the trusty school backpack. It is a brave companion filled with textbooks, notebooks, and perhaps a few snacks for later, but the library is a place where lightness and focus reign supreme. To keep our walkways clear for wandering minds and to ensure no tripping hazards lurk among the shelves, school bags are not permitted inside the library.
In accordance with school policy, school bags should be stored in your locker at all times.
