Students rehearse and perform for three days of intensive music in the picturesque town of Beechworth. We offer junior and senior concert band, string, jazz or contemporary band. There’s also an opportunity to try out another instrument – maybe sing or play ukulele or percussion in our fabulous concert finale. Or show off any special talents (the usual or the very unusual!) in our popular talent night show – Dookie’s Got Talent.

Why go to camp?
Skills Development
Focused practice on their primary instrument with experienced instructors can significantly enhance technique and musicianship.
Opportunities to perform in front of peers and instructors help build confidence and stage presence.
Exposure to various styles and genres allows students to broaden their musical horizons and develop versatility.
Working in groups teaches students how to blend their sound with others, enhancing listening skills and adaptability.
Camp fosters friendships with like-minded peers, promoting a sense of community and shared passion for music. Building connections with fellow campers can lead to lifelong friendships and collaborations in the future.
What happens at camp?
The NEVR Music Camp runs for three days every year at The Old Priory Beechworth. During the duration of the camp, students will choose a main ensemble - Concert Band, Jazz Band, Contemporary Ensemble or String Ensemble. These ensembles will be lead by outstanding conductors and tutors from within the NEVR region focussing on developing skills, working towards performing in our Grand Concert on the final night at the Memorial Hall in Beechworth at 7pm. This is a free concert for all parents and friends.
Students will also come together in a massed choir lead by Lauren Schmutter to learn a contemporary piece to perform together as a finale.
The day is broken up into ensemble rehearsals, small tutorial groups and finale rehearsal.
On the first evening the students participate in a games night led by the year 12's and on the second evening, a talent quest. Students are given time in the afternoon to work with other students rehearsing an act for the talent quest.
