The purpose of Investigation Time is to provide students the opportunity for scaffolded inquiry time, guided by their interests, linked with current curriculum and set in a collaborative environment. Students thrive in this type of environment because they have the opportunity to connect with the curriculum and their peers. It allows teachers to personalise student learning and build upon their prior knowledge. It is an important part of the Prep classroom programs.
Each year the Year 5’s and Preps are very excited to meet their new buddies. In Term 1 the Preps and Year 5’s engage in a range of ‘getting to know you’ activities and games. One of the activities completed was creating a Venn diagram outlining their shared interests, similarities and differences. Both Preps and Year 5’s are thrilled to have a buddy that they can play with.
