We support teachers to ensure children are able to engage in their learning at school.
We have many children with additional needs and impairments such as sight, hearing, medical conditions and learning difficulties. We support the general wellbeing of students including mental health.
To build a child's understanding of friendships, they need to understand how to resolve conflict in addition to being a good friend. At home see conflict in friendships as an opportunity to problem solve. Be aware that emotions can be heightened, help your child through this difficult time and remind them it will get better.
If you have any concerns about your child chat to the teacher first, they will recommend the best course of action. If you currently engage with a specialists' service or your child has a diagnosis, please ensure the school has a copy of these reports and the school has been informed of their condition. Specialist reports usually have helpful recommendations for the classroom and the teacher that will help your child.
At KCPS we do not have onsite Speech Therapists, Occupational Therapists or Psychologists. Families need to engage in these services privately for the needs of their child/children.
You can attend these sessions outside of school hours which results in your child not being removed from class. Contact your GP for recommendations and referrals.
