The Night Ravens Guide

By Maddison Butler

Run fast for your mother, run fast for your father. Run for your children, for your sisters and brothers. Leave all your love and your longing behind. You can’t carry it with you if you want to survive. The dog days are over.

It’s what I’ve been hearing for the past 2341 days. That is 6 years, 75 months, 334 weeks. And it’s over, the apocalypse is done. These dog days are over. We won. But did we really?

We’ve been waiting for freedom, for 2341 days we waited. But what now? What changes?

The answer, nothing, nothing at all.

We’ve been living in a never-ending apocalypse anyway. We were never free; we just accepted our fate. We didn’t see it clearly and now we will pay dearly for it.

The dog days aren’t done, they’re only starting.
