Rayner's Orchard

On Tuesday, the 7th of May, Grade Four went on an excursion to Rayner's Orchard, in Woori Yallock, to support our inquiry unit: 'Paddock to Plate'.

Upon getting off the bus, the wagging tails of Ranger and Chief, the working border collie dogs of the orchard, met us with slobbers and sticks that were pleading to be thrown.

At the orchard, we were treated to a walking tour, where everyone was able to pick and try mandarins, royal gala apples, finger limes, and strawberry guava fruits.

Following this, Chef Cookie taught us the process of bottling and preserving plums using glucose syrup. Everyone got to prepare their own jar which was boiled by Chef Cookie to eliminate any bacteria present in the jars of plums, and seal the jars so nothing else could get in.

After some lunch in the Peach Cafe and a Q & A session with Claudine, a worker at the orchard, we were then treated to a tractor ride around the perimeter of the farming area.

The beautiful weather made the tractor ride, and the whole day itself, absolutely perfect. We were even lucky to have Ranger and Chief join us, running alongside the tractors.

Thank you Rayner's Orchard for a wonderful day!

CONGRATULATIONS to our newly elected Grade Four sport captains!

We had many students bravely perform their speeches in front of their house peers, outlining why they believed they would be a suitable sport captain.

Out of all the fantastic speeches (well done to everyone who tried out), eight students were then voted by their peers to be sport captain for their house.

Please join us in congratulating:

Newcombe: Eden E and Connor A

Boyle: Ian Z and Aubree D

Chappell: Hunter K and Lacey S

Gould: Tegan S and Ron G
