Homework

Homework is due every Monday. 

Spelling

Spelling Tests are every Thursday or Friday (ask your teacher). Find your 10 base words in ‘Spelling’ and 5 core words in ‘Homework’.

Diaries

Diaries are due every Friday. Students must read at least 4 times a week for 30 minutes each time. Book titles and pages/times are to be written down in diaries and signed by parents each day. Activities on the left hand side of the diary also need to be completed each week.

Expectations

It is expected that every student completes these weekly tasks. Failure to do so or to an adequate standard will result in students making up time at recess or lunch to complete these tasks. Repeat offenders will receive a strike.

Homework Term 4, Week 8

English:

Speaking and Listening:
Read the 'Oral Presentation- My Primary School Years' task description below. Begin working on your Presentation to ensure it is ready to present in week 10- Monday 4th December. This means you have two weeks to plan, prepare and rehearse for your final classroom oral presentation at Primary School.

Graduation:
Last call for any baby photos that have not been submitted. They are now overdue.

English:

Maths:
Complete your assigned Mathletics activities. 

Inquiry:
Your Inquiry Projects are due next week! Please ensure that you are ready to present by completing your project before Wednesday next week. You should also rehearse how you will present your project to your small group to ensure you get the best possible outcome. If you would like to see the criteria, read the rubric below. 

Graduation:
There are still lots of you that have not sent in a baby photo! Please do this ASAP! They need to be in before the end of the week. 

Writing:
In the next few weeks in class, you will be writing a letter to your future self! Please bring in a stamped, self addressed envelope. We will write the return address together on the back as a class. On the front of your envelope you will need:

1. Your full name

2. Your street number and address (if you think you may move house within a year’s time, perhaps use a grandparent’s or aunt and uncle’s address)

3. Your suburb and state

4. Your postcode

5. A stamp

Please set out your envelope as shown in the picture below.

Maths:
End of year Maths assessment finishes this week! To ensure best possible results, spend a minimum of 30 minutes completing My Numeracy - Number and Algebra tasks on Essential Assessment. If you have no tasks to complete or are not sure how to access them, speak to your teacher ASAP!

Inquiry:
Begin planning your Inquiry Project which is to be ready to present by week 8.

Bibliography:
This week you will begin finding good sources of information for your bibliography. Your task is to find 5 reliable websites where you can find information on your research question. When you find a useful website you need to write down the following information:
The website, title of the page, author (if there is an author) and year.  

You can write your list in your homework book, but it might be better to print it out and save the document on a USB. This will help you throughout the assignment.

Baby Photos:
Can you believe graduation is around the corner? As part of our ceremony we would like every student to bring in a photo of themselves when they were a baby. It can be given to your classroom teacher in hard copy, however it is probably easier as a file on USB.

If you didn't attend Templeton Primary School when you were in Prep, could you please also bring a photo of yourself in Prep from your previous school.

Maths:
End of year maths assessment starts this week! To prepare, spend a minimum of 30 minutes completing My Numeracy tasks on Essential Assessment. If you have no tasks to complete or are not sure how to access them, speak to your teacher ASAP!

Literacy:
Explanation Writing- Sizzling Starts.
Click on the button below and watch the David Attenborough video titled 'Sharks vs Seals'. Listen closely to the language used by the narrator and think about how it enhances what you are watching.

Write down 5 interesting or powerful words used in the video, include what type of word it is and a definition. It should look like this:

Inquiry:
This term we are looking at how location affects the way in which we and other people around the world live. Complete the 'My Identity' worksheet and think about how some of the elements might be related to your geographical location. Be sure to take the time to think and reflect before filling in each section.

Inquiry:
Today you will be beginning to work on an oral presentation. The purpose is to investigate the reasons for immigration to Australia over the past 100 years by conducting an interview. Your oral presentation will retell one person’s immigration story. Students will have three weeks to create questions, conduct an interview and present their story. Please find more information in the links below. As a very last resort, if you can't find anyone to interview, please let Miss Hall know by Monday morning and she will organise a teacher for you to interview instead. 

Next Monday, your teacher will be checking that you have completed the first 2 steps of the flowchart.

NAIDOC Week took place over the holidays from the 2nd - 9th of July.

Homework Term 3, Week 1 
English:

Maths:
Log into Essential Assessment and complete 2 My Numeracy activities from Number and Algebra, 2 from Measurement and Geometry and 2 from Statistics and Probability. If you do not know how to access My Numeracy speak to your teacher ASAP. 

Literacy:
Complete a profile on each person that you live with at home including yourself. If you live with lots of people please only do a maximum of 5 and if you don't live with many people, please give a family member a phone call and complete a minimum of 3.
You should include a photo or a hand drawn picture in your profile. Please see below for an example. 

This information may be used later in the term when writing an information report.

"Do you think someone as important as the King keeps a journal? Let’s imagine he does. What do you think he would write about the special day of his Coronation?

Write a journal entry from King Charles III’s point of view about his Coronation. Think about which parts he would think most important to reflect upon, how he might have felt throughout the proceedings and the tone that he would use in his writing."

Trim and glue this fact sheet into your homework book. Read the entire sheet. On the next page, write the answers to these questions in full sentences.

Grammar:
Complete the Grammar sheet attached below. Some of the questions may be tricky! 

Maths:
How tall are the people in your family? What foods do they enjoy eating? How many pairs of socks does each person own? Think about a set of data you can collect about your family and present it as either a pie chart, line graph, stem and leaf plot OR side by side graph. You must do a different type of graph to what you made in class. Miss Corrie and Miss Hall's group, you may do the same type of graph. 

Your graph should be neat, colourful, have a title and x and y axis must be labelled. 

Write two observations you have made (e.g Spaghetti is the most popular food).

Research a local MP (Member of Parliament) and write a profile on that person. Make sure to include which area they are MP for, which political party they are associated with as well as a minimum of 4 interesting facts or information about them.
