Homework is due every Monday.
Diaries
Diaries are due every Friday. Students must read at least 4 times a week for 30 minutes each time. Book titles and pages/times are to be written down in diaries and signed by parents each day. Activities on the left hand side of the diary also need to be completed each week.
Expectations
It is expected that every student completes these weekly tasks. Failure to do so or to an adequate standard will result in students making up time at recess or lunch to complete these tasks. Repeat offenders will receive a strike.

As students are preparing for their speeches due on Thursday there will be no homework this week.

This week you are to go onto My Numeracy and complete three tasks.
Inquiry:
This week you should have just about finished your presentation and putting the final touches on it to present next week. You should be up to check point 6 on the flow chart. Now is the time to check everything against the Rubric so that you can get the maximum benefit. If you are unsure of anything or feel that you are running out of time, you need to talk to your teacher about it. Don't leave it until the day before as this is not ideal.

This week you are to select from the list below a worksheet of BODMAS/BIDMAS. Just a reminder to underline the first part of the question so that you can answer it correctly if you need to.
Inquiry:
This week you should have finished your interview and researching your other person/group of immigrants. It is now that you will begin to put together your presentation. Start with your Venn Diagram as you should have already completed your front page. This week you need to bring in your presentation and show your teacher where you are up to.

Maths:
This week you need to choose one of the conversion sheets to complete. If you are having difficulty please see your classroom teacher for help. As an added bonus there will be an extra challenge for the student/s in each grade who comes up with an alphabetical list of mass related words such as w = weight, m = mass. For the tech savy students, you may be required to explain each term.
Inquiry:
You are about to embark on your next oral presentation for the year. You will have an opportunity to interview someone and then compare their immigration story to another that you resarch about prior to 1950. All of the information can be found below including the rubric in which you will be marked against.
Next week you should have decided on who you are interviewing, come up with your interesting questions, set a time for your interview, decided how you are presenting your information and created a front page.

AR CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP AND CHALLENGE TERM 3
Miss Hall's Grade won the AR Championship for the most Non-Fiction texts read, will they uphold their crown this term or will another grade rise to the challenge? The battle, the challenge, the books are there, will you contribute and add to your team because I know that Miss Hall's team is eager for another win! Writing:
This term, you may have looked at developing your characters in your narratives by analyzing their character traits.
Inside character traits: personality traits that can be inferred from the persons or the characters thoughts, feelings, actions and dialogue.
Outside character traits: also known as external traits, they are the physical traits that can be seen by others such as appearance, clothing or gestures.
Choose a character from a story you have written and draw a picture similar to the example below. If you have done this in class already, choose a different character or choose a character from your Lit Circles book.

Logon to Essential Assessment and click on My Numeracy. Complete a total of two quizzes from any area. These are all topics that you demonstrated in your assessment that you need to improve on. Your teacher will show you how to access these in class.

World Laughter Day was last week! To celebrate, we will be doing Mad Libs!
BEFORE you open the Mad Libs template, in your homework book write down;

What are Mad Libs? Mad Libs are stories with words removed and replaced by blank spaces. One player acts as the “reader” and asks the other players, who haven’t seen the story, to fill in the blanks with adjectives, nouns, exclamations, colours, adjectives, and more. These words are inserted into the blanks and then the story is read aloud to hilarious results. Add the words you just wrote down in your book into the template below and read the story you have created.
NOW, it is time to write your own story with gaps that a partner will fill in next week! Your story should be about half a page and include around 10 gaps.

Paste the article into your homework book and write a brief summary on what the article is about. Make sure to include whether it is a local, state or federal issue.

Complete the assigned Maths sheet below. If it is too easy or too hard please speak to your classroom teacher. You are welcome to complete as many as you like!

Please bring a box of tissues and a set of headphones into school. Headphones should be small enough to be kept in your tub all year!
