Highlights: In the first half, the Goofsters scored a whopping 4 goals. Although, the Clarinda Crushers had the first attack. The Clarinda Crushers had a really strong midfield, and quite strong attack. The Goofsters had a really professional defence with great strikers. In the second half, we realised that the Clarinda Crushers were very short on players. So the Goofsters subbed off a few of their players and very kindly gave one of their players to the Clarinda Crushers.
Throughout the game, the Goofsters scored 4 more goals, with them on their best defence.
Goofsters versus Clarinda crushers, a game teeming with controversy. The Clarinda crushers, not having won a game yet, were determined.
Both teams had a challenge as we could only throw it to the height of the goalie as we didn’t have proper goals. Although it ended with the Goofsters winning, both teams had amazing sportsmanship. By Evi, Fiona & Ellie

Highlights: At the start of the match it seemed that the scores were 2-0 from the beginning. Hello scoring like lightning and clearing through the Crushers slamming their way into a 2-0 half time score. During the break, tension grew and the Crushers were done with it. They blew threw Hello. Jirah scoring 2 goals, his team practically screaming in triumph. In the last few minutes of the game, both teams stepped up and played their hardest - Cooper and Sid scoring many goals and Jirah scoring the final goal for their team.

Charlie saves a power shot at the last minute bringing it back to Clarinda HC when they then score but it does not count as they stepped in A very close match but it ended with 7-4.

Suwon scores once again making it 3-0.Then Jainil scores another goal and it looks like this is the last goal for the match but a few seconds later, the Goats scores making it 5-0.
Second half started with high expectations.It starts with Anthony scoring but it was to high then Jainil scores 6-0 then Suwon scores then a goal and makes it 7-0. Once again Jainil scores a goal making it 8-0. But Anthony makes it 9-0.Winston scores a goal for the snakes making it 9-1 but Jainil scores making it 10-1 and the end of the match.

Highlights: This match was outstanding and a real cliff hanger, and all together the teams scores we’re tight and many goals were saved by both teams and a real triumph, once the whistle was blown the teams pounced like tigers running to the ball and the goofsters dash to the other team to reach for the ball and hello shocked and fierce to win! Not long after the whistle blew for half time. The timer started for the teams to plan and they rushed to their teams to lift their momentum to push forward and reach for the name “champion” as soon as the last whistle blew, they had courage and teamwork in their eyes ready to face their victory but… with suspense Hello was the winning team! - Chrissy

And then an awesome goal by Jainil then Jainil was on bench and Suwon scored an wonderful goal so it was 4-2 but then Ollie and Johnny made the scores to 10-2 with amazing performance. Then they went off to the Preliminary Final.

CPS Tigers v The Lions
Highlights:
The Lions and the Tigers. The rivalled royalty of the jungle. This week’s semi-finals were a close match, living up to the teams’ names.
The anticipation in this week’s semi-finals was off the charts, with built-up excitement for the semis and for the grand finals that were soon to come. The crowd was pumped. The commentators, umpires, timekeepers and scorers were pumped. The teachers were pumped. Most importantly, so were the teams and their coaches.
They were all pumped for a twenty-minute game of European Handball; and rightly so. The Lions had Johnny attempting to score at the start of the game, but it was met with an amazing block by Euan. The Lions had their attacking positions, but the Tigers had Euan and Lavinia blocking those goals just as well as they were scored. Penalty shots were missed and made up for by the Lions and the Tigers resumed their passing.
While the teams played, the scores were tossed back and forth, as they made up for the other teams’ goals, eventually ending in an 8-8 tie. So it was announced that the next goal scored was winning, and the pressure was on.
But there was no time to pace and worry, and the teams ran into their new challenge headfirst: getting the winning goal. Just by watching, you could tell immediately that the teams were desperate and growing increasingly frustrated as the goals weren’t scored, and were missed by their teammates.
As Filip started his next try for the winning goal, he succeeded! Winning the Tigers the semi-finals for Clarinda Primary School SEPEP 2023.
The players walked off of the field in their triumph and loss (maybe shedding a few tears while hiding behind a tree), and they were met with a cheering crowd because that crowd didn’t stop supporting their team throughout the whole game. They wouldn’t have stopped anyway, but once it was announced that chanting was allowed for the finals, the crowd was, magically, ten times more energetic.
So this year’s semi-finals were ended and played through blood, sweat and tears (seriously - there was a lot of sweat) and, most importantly, no hard feelings off of the field and good sportsmanship.

Grand Final
Rizzlers of Oz v CPS Tigers
Highlights:
Perhaps some people would call the grand finals of CPS European Handball 2023 anti-climactic; Maybe some people would say that the anticipation was off the charts. But the thing that everyone can agree on was that the Tigers lived up to their namesake, where the average man couldn’t fight the average tiger; and they can also agree that the Rizzlers of Oz had W Rizz.
As the first whistle rang out, the teams were swallowed by deafening roars that enveloped the field. As they put their bibs on and got into position, the roars only got louder before quieting down - signalling that the game had begun. The moment they had all been waiting for: the grand final… having beat each other once each, the stakes couldn’t have been higher, as quoted by Anushka during her interview by Christiana and Jainil
“I mean, we’re gonna be trying our absolute best to win, us and the Rizzlers, we’re pretty close teams, had pretty close matches - we beat them once, they beat us once,”
and Ryder’s response to the interviewers’ questions was:
“I think it's very even between the two teams, very fair play.”
These 20 minutes were what the whole term of games had led up to. From the first half to the second and even the break in between, these 20 minutes were what the training for each position, whether umpiring or playing, had led up to. But it was, for sure, an eventful 20 minutes.
To start off these 20 minutes, each team had their fair share of goals and strengths, with the first two goals scored by the Tigers who were in the lead for the entirety of the first half, but the Rizzlers quickly caught up, with the help of Ryder, Harry and Elina as an outstanding goalie.
But the Tigers weren’t going to go down easy, with Anushka, Euan and Lavinia enforcing their team beliefs and consistently encouraging their team all throughout the game. 9 minutes had passed, and so had the break. The second half countdown had started

3… and the last three official playing minutes of CPS European Handball had commenced! With the last minutes met with cheers and adrenaline. With the cheers ringing in your ear, even when no one was cheering and the synthetic grass under your feet, the sand flying up with each step and the whistles pounding behind your eyes.
The Rizzlers were in the lead, and the last goal was scored by Ryder from the Rizzlers, ending in a 9-11 score to the Rizzlers of Oz. So that’s a wrap. 2023 Clarinda Primary School European Handball. Until the coaches made their final speeches and Mrs Leopold made her final -speech, the prizes were handed out. Everyone can confidently say that as soon as the last whistle sounded, it didn’t really feel like the end.
