Newsletter 5th June 2025
Chewton Primary School is situated on Djaara Country!
We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the custodians and caretakers of the land. We thank them for the care they have taken and continue to take of Country: the rivers, mountains, trees and animals. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
We follow Bunjil's teachings: Care for self , Care for others, Care for Country
We commit to Be Brave and Make Change.
We will be a voice for generations.
Now, more than ever.
WARING (April-July) (Kulin seasons)

Our school stall at the Weslley Hill market was a hit on the weekend. Cakes and snags and freshly baked sourdough (thanks Lu!) sold fast. The sun was out and lots of people were about. Huge thanks to everyone who baked or crafted a contribution. And to the parents and kids who helped on the day. Wren and Tilly did an amazing job of running the stall for most of the morning. A special mention to Andy for chopping a bucket of onions and to the Winters' Flat parent who gifted us Portuguese tarts right out of the oven. Huge thanks to Emily and Maz for organising!
I am hoping Chewton families can join the final day of the Yoorook Walk for Truth on Wednesday June 18th, from the Shrine of Remembrance to Parliament House. The walk is 5km. We would catch a 6am train from Castlemaine, tram to the Shrine of Remembrance and train back from Parliament station.
This is a great opportunity for our school community. I hope you can join us.

Can you help?
We need a volunteer who can weld 2 loops back on to our basketball ring, we also need a volunteer who can paint the lines on the backboard.
Made by Oscar Vasilenko and Hunter Gilchrist, Student Council
Last orders for food at 8:45am and then brekkie club closes at 8:50am. It is getting colder and there are some hungry tummies at lunchtime. Can you please check if your child needs more food in their lunchbox? We always have lots of fruit in the staffroom and also some rice and soups at lunch if needed.
Thankyou so much to everyone who helped at thr Reconciliation Walk, lent equipment, helped at at storyboard stations and walked with us.
Thanks to everyone who helped out at the market stall. It was a huge success!
