Newsletter 13th June 2024
Chewton Primary School is situated on Djaara Country.
We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the custodians and caretakers of the land. We thank them for the care they have taken and continue to take of Country: the rivers, mountains, trees and animals. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We follow Bunjil's teaching: Care for self, care for others, care for Country.
We commit to Be Brave and Make Change.
We will be a voice for generations.

We are hoping you will consider a muesli bar rather than bikkies or a bar from the supermarket!
There was lots of interest at the Resource Smart awards in our unique solution to soft plastic waste. We are keen to see what difference we can make to your wallets and your landfill bins! Thanks for your support.
It has been a busy week, with lots of congratulations and interest from a wide variety of media and organisations. Serena is already thinking about next steps and we are working on a junior landcare grant, a workshop on water health and connecting with Nalderun for our next steps in 8Ways. Lots of learning to continue to be done by staff and students!
Here is a selection of photos from our media blitz! Being interviewed for TV: 30 minutes of talking reduced to a minute and a half!
A big thanks to Kath Coff and Ben Reid from Nalderun who gave up their time to offer cultural learning for students in schools in the Mt Alexander shire at the Reconciliation Week exhibition. If you have not had a chance to go into the permanent exhibition Boorp Boorp Boondyll, please take some time to do so. It has won a Reconciliation Australia award and is well worth a repeat visit.
Thanks to Luke Lennox from Forest Creek Studios and Zoe Scoglio from Nalderun for lovely photography
Last week Margot took the 5/6 class. One of the activities the class enjoyed was writing campfire stories to read in our new yarning circle. A fire was made, marshmallows were cooked, and our buddies joined in for some sharing of stories and games.
We reached 300 ponts in our School Wide Positive Behaviour (SWPBS) Tally and celebrated with a class party toasting marshmallows around the campfire.
