Newsletter 21st March 2024
Chewton Primary School is situated on Djaara Country.
We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the custodians and caretakers of the land. We thank them for the care they have taken and continue to take of Country: the rivers, mountains, trees and animals. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We follow Bunjil's teaching: Care for self, care for others, care for Country.
We commit to Be Brave and Make Change.
We will be a voice for generations.
Now, more than ever

Please read the Department of Education Policy which requires us to relocate if the Local Government Area (Mt Alexander) is an Extreme Fire Danger Day. The DET gets this rating from the BOM Fire Behaviour Index. Sometimes the Local Government area has a different fire rating than the CFA fire area, which can cause confusion. Wednesday showed us that there are many factors that go into the rating. This week it was southerly winds increasing during the day, predicted dry lightning storm and high fuel load.
Please read our newsletter and emails to stay up to date with information. The school must relocate when the fire rating is Extreme.
Our Market Stall went well... A big thanks to Clare and Maz for leading this and to all the parent helpers! We raised almost $300
