Chewton Primary School is situated on Djaara Country.
We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the custodians and caretakers of the land. We thank them for the care they have taken and continue to take of Country: the rivers, mountains, trees and animals. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
We follow Bunjil's teaching: Care for self, care for others, care for Country.
We commit to Be Brave and Make Change.

Dont forget to order by 5pm on the Thursday before. https://schoollunchonline.com.au/
Please make sure your child brings their present in asap!
Our limit is $10. During December we also make sure we go out of our way to do kind things for our Secret Santa, without giving away our identity! Presents come to school by Monday 11th December and are given out at our end of year picnic on Thursday 14th December!
We had a great morning with our 2024 preps this week. They met their buddies and spent time together. Next week we will have a picnic together.
Don't forget your teddy!
P-1-2 students have been learning about forces this term. They investigated types of force, then designed and created a toy which used one or more types of force to move. Grade 5-6 students were invited in to share their learning! Amazing work P-1-2s!
Thanks to Nalderun for a fantastic visit to Me Mandook Galk today! Grade 3-6 students rode to the Grandmother Tree with Scott, Miki, Trinity, Lorenzo and Emma. Bernadette and Kahu were trafiic wardens. Thanks Trinity and Lorenzo!
Big thanks to Chase, Zepplin, Maya, Cam, Sas and Keenan for showing us around. We loved saying hello to Me Mandook Galk and seeing all the amazing work you are doing!
Thanks Rob for the snow cones: a lovely sweet treat before we headed back up the hill to school.
This week's focus: Keys 3 and 4!

It’s been three years since Nalderun with the support of many community supporters from near and far, bought back the land at Me-Mandook Galk, the site of the incredible ancestor tree in Chewton. There has been loads of work going on behind the scenes towards realising the dream of this land becoming an education and cultural hub.
On the ground there is a deadly team of First Nations youth headed up by Chase Norfolk and Maya Coff and including Cohen Nelson, Kohen Williams and Zepplin Valentine with support from Camilo Demarco, Sas Allardice and many crew from the School Based Apprentice program. The team have been busily working together over the last three years to create the foundations of the Me-Mandook Galk Bush Tucker enterprise.
On Saturday 16th December at Wesley Hill Market from 9am-1pm we are having our first public event, selling a select range of bush foods plants that we have been growing at Me-Mandook Galk and in partnership with the horticulture students at Middleton Prison.
The long term vision of Me-Mandook Galk Bush Tucker has many branches and includes production and sale of fresh and dried bush foods, education programs, propagation and sale of bush tucker plants and the regeneration of the Nalderun land.
Come along and support this new First Nations youth lead enterprise branch of Nalderun and learn more about the foods you can eat that are of this land.

As you will know there are high numbers of COVID in the community at present. We ask you to keep your child at home if they have any cold or flu symptoms and recommend a RAT test. We have RAT tests available at the school. Please call in to the office to get a pack or ring to request one. Face masks are available for students and staff.
Management of COVID-19 in schools
It is recommended that staff members, students or visitors who have symptoms of cold, influenza or COVID-19 undergo testing for COVID-19.
Parents of symptomatic students should be asked to collect their child from school and keep them home until they are no longer symptomatic.
The Department of Health recommends that staff and students who test positive for COVID-19 isolate for a minimum of 5 days and do not attend school until their symptoms resolve.
If well enough, students should be supported in the same way as students with an extended absence due to illness or injury, with learning material provided to support their continued learning.
Schools must treat health information, including positive COVID-19 test results, in accordance with the Schools’ Privacy Policy.
COVID-19 diagnoses are not to be shared or discussed unless the individual (or their parent/carer) provides consent, or unless schools are legally obliged or authorised to do so.
A dedicated COVID-19 advice phone line is available for the general public: Phone: 1800 020 080
Hours: 24 hours 7 days a week
More information is available on the Department of Health website
