Newsletter 26th October 2023
Chewton Primary School is situated on Djaara Country.
We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the custodians and caretakers of the land. We thank them for the care they have taken and continue to take of Country: the rivers, mountains, trees and animals. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
We follow Bunjil's teaching: Care for self, care for others, care for Country.

This week as part of Mental Health month Margot and the Hands-on Learning team got creative and set up a range of lunchtime activities. Each of these activities aligned with one of the 5 key areas that support good mental health and wellbeing. The photos show students eagerly participating in the activities and having a great deal of fun with their friends.
It was great to see every child at the school participating in one or more of the activities. At home you may like to continue thinking about good mental health by participating in activities with your family that connect to the 5 key areas.
1. Connect with people
2. Be physically active
3. Learn new skills
4. Give to others
5. Pay attention to the present moment
If you or your child need support with mental health concerns, please seek help through your GP or other services.

Thanks to students who brought in a flower for their teacher today. We are so lucky to have amazing teachers here:
Sue, Renee, Miki, Scott our classroom teachers. Kate and John our specialist teachers. Scott S our music tutor. Serena our Sustainability Teacher.
Shirley and Bryce our regular CRTs.
Each of these people brings a wealth of expertise, a great sense of joy and a passion for teaching and learning, which sets our school apart. Catherine Gunn, a specialist who worked with us from 2020-2022, says we are the best little school in Victoria. This is high praise and reflects Chewton Primary teachers' willingness to engage in new learning, curriculum development and teaching to each child's point of need. A huge thanks for everything you do teachers!

October is ADHD month, a time for spreading truth, understanding, and support.
It is also time to focus on the amazing people with ADHD in our lives.
Current understandings of ADHD are constantly evolving – with new research, personal experiences, and conversations.
I have ADHD and you can ask me questions about it!
