Chewton Primary School is situated on Djaara Country.
We acknowledge the Dja Dja Wurrung people, the custodians and caretakers of the land. We thank them for the care they have taken and continue to take of Country: the rivers, mountains, trees and animals. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
We commit to Be Brave and Make Change. We will be a voice for generations
Today is National Public Education Day. The day is an opportunity to recognise the central role that public schools, preschools and TAFEs play in strengthening the social, economic and cultural fabric of our society. Free, public and secular education is the key to a vibrant, socially cohesive, multicultural and democratic Australia. Happy Public Education Day to all staff who work tirelessly to provide high quality education to your students every day – you deserve to be recognised.

As part of our work on School Wide Positive Behaviour Support this year, we are revisiting our school values. Staff and students have filled out a survey to identify the 3 or 4 values that resonate most strongly with them. Students will bring home a note this week for parents and carers to fill in to have your say. Please return before next Wednesday.
There is lots of Covid around in the community at the moment. We have RATS in the office if you need more.
Please keep your child home if they are sick and do a test. Masks are available at school for students and adults to wear.
Unfortunately there has not been enough interest for Mikaela to run this program. We are investigating other options, including connecting up with external providers. We thank Mikaela for all her time and energy and we are sorry to see you go! We wish you all the best in your new venture.
We take our Child Safety obligations very seriously and have been updating our Child Safety policies. School Council had have their input at our meeting this week. We ask all parents and carers to look at the drafts and take the time to give feedback for consideration at our next School Council meeting. Our current Child Safe policies and code of conduct are available on our website.

School Council tonight discussed the responses to our survey following trials last term. 94% of students would like optional uniform, while 58% parents would like full or partial uniform. School Council have decided that from next week, students will wear full school uniform Monday- Thursday, and have Free Choice Friday where uniform is optional on that day. This will go until the end of Term 3 and be reviewed by parents and council.
