Social media
Chewton Primary School now has social media. The purpose of this is to increase our visibility in the wider community, tell a positive story about our great little school and get more kids coming to our school in the bush.
Photos of children on social media will be minimal, and strict consent protocols will be followed. The idea is to show the wonderful school community and activity without focusing on the kids faces, but there may be the odd one now and then with approval.
Content is curated by Kitty, with support from the teachers and parents, Laura and Maz.

Market stall: Expression of interest
We would like to have a one-off market stall at Wesley Hill in May, and another one-off at the Castlemaine Farmers Market in the second half of the year.
The purpose is to increase the visibility of our school in the community. Fundraising is secondary but we will still need some lovely things to sell (jams, garden produce from the kids, seedlings, crafty things, other ideas and donations welcome).
We're seeking parents to form a group to help bring this together and make this happen. Only twice in the year. Could be more if successful and people like it but not pressure. If you're keen to help please let Bernadette know.
Bushfire showcase
Yesterday it was the grade 5-6 bushfire showcase. Most of the parents came in and looked at our work that we did over the term. There was a comment list and luckily all the feedback was kind and helpful.
Then we got a card for Neil to say thanks for his support for the day and after all it was a great showcase.
the whole school went to the State Festival to see a series of Art Exhibitions. Students went to the Market Building and viewed art works and Boorp Boorp Boondyil, met David Frazer at the Castlemaine Art Gallery and grade 3-6 students went to the Goods Shed w hile the P-1-2 class saw art displays in shop windows. We loved seeing Kaori and Laura's art work!
Thanks to Kate for organising such an amazing day of learning.
Students were fortunate to visit the Goods Shed to experience the video installation "Essays On Earth" which is a collaboration between artists Paul Kane, John Wolsely and Brodie Ellis.
Essays on Earth is built around Paul Kane’s reading of his epic poem on the themes of earth, water, fire and air. The unfolding images use macro photography of paintings by John Wolseley filled with pond life, birds, carbon traces and geological rubbings.
This is the perfect match for the experimental microscopy of Brodie Ellis, whose work investigates the ethics of how our limited natural resources are being used.
After viewing the Exhibition, students were lucky enough to meet Brodie Ellis and ask her questions about the work and life as an artist.
James McCardle, photographer, spent time discussing the art works on display with students.
There is still time to see lots of art this weekend! Make the most of it.
The Hands on Learning program is off to a great start. Students are beginning work on a range of projects, and students from Castlemaine Secondary College VCAL program will be working on the walls and floor of the shed to get it ready for students to work in.
We celebrated our Sustainability work with a giant cook up with Serena and Laura. Grade 5-6's selected the recipes and everyone had a turn at helping in the kitchen! Spanakopita, Apple Crumble, gluten free crumble and lentil salad were enjoyed by all!
Removalists are bringing the library books on Thursday 20th April. Please contact Bernadette or Kitty if you can help putting them onto the shelving.
We also need some people to help shift tables and chairs to the carpark
We have a number of chairs and tables to give away. You can pick up today or on the 20th/ 21st from the carpark
Students in P-1-2 have been busy working on publishing stories. Fantastic work everyone!
Have you put your name down to help yet?
Needs a clean but is in great condition!
