Wollongong Schools' Choral Festival

In 2025, the Wollongong Schools' Choral Festival will celebrate their 68th Choral Festival. These celebrations will take place at the Wollongong Town Hall from Thursday 31 July to Thursday 7 August. Please note that the last four performances fall in education week 2025. The number of dates may be cut back depending on the number of schools that nominate to participate.

Students from Years 3-6 are invited to participate as part of the massed choir in this wonderful event. Participating schools will be required to perform 9 songs as part of the massed choir and may perform an individual school item/s with a maximum of 5-6 minutes, on their performance night. The evening performance will run from 7:00 pm to approximately 8:30 pm. We would love for as many schools as possible to join us in 2025.

Aims of the festival

The festival aims to showcase the outcomes of music education in the Wollongong area and to encourage excellence in these programs by:

encouraging the development of teaching of choral programs at school level
providing an opportunity for the school and wider community to recognise choral singing as an art form
providing a positive and memorable choral experience for both teachers and students at the Wollongong Town Hall

Support is available for schools in preparation for the Festival on a school by school basis.

Performances

Wollongong Schools' Choral Festival consists of a maximum of 5 individual shows which begin on Thursday 31 July and conclude on Thursday 7 August 2025. The number of days may be cut back depending on the number of schools that nominate to participate.

Performances are at the Wollongong Town Hall (corner of Crown St and Kembla St, Wollongong NSW, 2500) on Thursday 31 July, Monday 4 August, Tuesday 5 August, Wednesday 6 August and Thursday 7 August. The evening performance will run from 7:00 pm - approximately 8:30 pm.

Schools will be required to nominate their preferences for their performance night and cluster rehearsal, and the Wollongong Schools' Choral Festival committee will do its utmost to accomodate each schools' needs. The organisation of each night is determined by numbers and a balance of schools and individual items.
