On a visit to Wattamolla, you can observe many examples of geomorphic processes, the natural processes that form and deform landforms on the lithosphere.
Those geomorphic processes that are exogenic, that is they happen on the surface of the earth, include:
weathering - mechanical and chemical attack on rocks that weaken them and break them down
erosion - the transportation of rocks and sediments to another place by ice, water, wind or gravity
deposition - the natural adding of extra soil and rocks to a location or land mass.
Some evidence shows more than one type of process. Look through the images to view evidence of erosion and deposition at the base of the fire trail.
This fire trail was recently upgraded to a concrete road to better manage erosion. View images and details on the Environmental management page.
Take the quiz to see how well you can identify examples of weathering, erosion and deposition at Wattamolla.
Teachers: If you would like to edit the questions and/or see your students' responses then you will need to make and edit a copy of the form.
Find examples of weathering, erosion and deposition around your school grounds or near your home. Create a presentation to share with your classmates.
