Students will rotate through three sessions during their day at Longneck Lagoon.
Students observe and record the features of a freshwater lagoon environment by creating a sound map, field sketch and vocabulary bank.
Students collect and record a range of macroinvertebrates from Dragonfly Creek. They then use their data and the Water Pollution Index to assess the health of the creek.
Using a model of the landscape, students investigate how the shape of the land affects the flow of water. By listening and participating in the 'catchment story' they demonstrate an understanding of how they can care for the water in their catchment area.
