2025 Year 4 and Stage 3 Technology Device Options to support student learning
In 2025 students in Year 4, Year 5 and 6 students have the option continue to participate in the Bring Your Own Designated Device (BYODD) program. The designated device is an Apple iPad. At Waitara Public School we strive to give our students the best possible opportunities for learning. This initiative is a continuation and expansion of the quality teaching practices we provide to students. The BYODD model is common in schools and helps the children to become responsible for looking after their own technology. It also assists children in continuing their learning at home when working on a digital piece. You have indicated the BYODD option for your child. Should this have changed, please contact the school office.
As an alternative to the BYODD program the school can provide students with the option to lease a school device. The leased device is available at a levy of $70 per semester and will be added to your child’s semester fees, should you choose this option. Students will receive an iPad operating on the latest IOS version with all apps and maintenance costs included. Please be aware as this is a school device it must always stay at school. This device does not go home.
All parents and students are required to acknowledge and agree to the 2025 Parent/Caregiver Policy Agreement and Digital Technologies Student Code of Conduct (see below) before any device is distributed or used.
Class teachers will be explicitly going through the Digital Technologies Code of Conduct with their students. All students will then be required to sign a class agreement reflecting their commitment to responsible conduct.
From Monday Week 3, class teachers will commence pre-assessments that require the use of technology. To ensure this happens we ask that you submit your agreement via School Bytes before Wednesday 5 February.
