Kindergarten are introduced to the library and our teacher librarian, Mrs Sivanandan, in their first few weeks of school. Our library has a large collection of picture books and an online platform to access ebooks and audiobooks.
Typically, Kindergarten classes visit the library once a week to read together, borrow and participate in learning activities linked to literacy. Kindergarten students participate in the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge through the library program.
Kindergarten may borrow one book at a time. This is an opportunity to learn to be responsible and care for books by using a library bag, having a safe place to keep their book and returning it each week.
The library is open at break times for all students. Varied activities are offered such as drawing, Lego, cars, board games and craft. In May our school participates in the National Simultaneous Storytime and in August we celebrate Book Week with fun activities organised by Mrs Sivanandan.
