On Thursday, last week, our girls & boys soccer teams had an awesome day competing in the first round of the NSW PSSA knockout against Warilla PS! The students walked together from our school to Warilla PS, full of energy and excitement. Everyone showed great sportsmanship and gave their best on the field. The effort and teamwork of both groups were inspiring to witness. A big congratulations to all the players for their commitment and enthusiasm.
As the school term comes to a close, we encourage you to continue exploring the Grow Your Mind program at home during the holiday break. To support this, we are pleased to share a selection of podcast links designed to spark meaningful conversations about character strengths and wellbeing with your children.
Alongside the podcasts, we have attached a Podcast Journal to help guide discussions and reflection. This journal provides prompts and activities to complement each episode, making it easier for families to engage thoughtfully and enjoyably.
Listening together is a wonderful way to reinforce the Grow Your Mind values, nurture positive mindsets, and foster strong family connections.
We hope you enjoy these resources and look forward to continuing our Grow Your Mind journey together in the new term!
Did you know the Guard Dog is a nickname for the amygdala – the part of your brain responsible for strong emotions and reactions? Sometimes our Guard Dogs bark loudly, making us only see things from our own point of view. This can make it difficult to understand others or resolve conflicts.
Want to learn more? Watch the attached video to see how we can quiet those Guard Dogs and open up new perspectives!
This week for Grow Your Mind, Wuri students explored the important topic of personal boundaries. Together, we created a vibrant class poster highlighting boundaries and what we won’t accept from others—such as inappropriate language, laughing at others, and blaming others for bad behaviour. It was a valuable lesson in respect, kindness, and standing up for ourselves!
Road Safey is a shared responsibility in keeping students safe on and around roads. We encourage you to talk to your child about the importance of road safety.
Below is a review of this term’s focus points to use as conversation starters when talking to students about road safety.

- pedestrian crossings are the safest point at which to cross the road.
Road Safety Focus: Hold your child's hand

- use a safe place to cross the road

LOOK! continuously both ways
LISTEN! for the sounds of approaching traffic
THINK! whether it is safe to cross and keep checking until safely across.
Djamalang students with 100% attendance in Week 9! Great job!!
Regular school attendance is critical for a child's success at school to not only achieve their educational best but increase their career and life options.
BHPS will continue to work in partnership with families to encourage and support regular attendance with our range of positive attendance initiatives.
When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children. It is also important that your child arrives at school on-time.
Arriving at school and class on time:
ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
gives students time to greet their friends before class
reduces classroom disruption
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.
Please send your uniform order to barrackht-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au so that orders can be put together ready for collection.
Payment can be made as an advanced payment in School Bytes or via Cash or Eftpos at pick up.
Friendly reminder to please return borrowed Community Pantry crates
