THE HEIGHTS BYTES

EASTER & THE LONG WEEKEND

The Easter Bunny certainly caused quite some excitement at BHPS on Tuesday as our students and families joined in on our Easter Hat parade and family BBQ.

A huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers, organising staff and families who joined in on the fun.

The Easter creations were sensational and as always our K-2 class performances were a HIT!

This year, Good Friday falls on 29 March, and Easter Monday on 1 April.

We hope that you take this opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved break and spend some quality time with your loved ones.

Please note that Barrack Heights Public School will be closed on Friday 29 March and Monday 1 April in observance of these public holidays.

Students are to return to school on Tuesday, 2 April.

Wishing you all a joyful Easter.

AUTISM AWARENESS MONTH FUNDRAISER

April is World Autism Awareness Month with April 2 being Autism Awareness Day. Each year, we celebrate this day to spread awareness and acceptance of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

ASD is a lifelong developmental condition characterised by difficulties in social interaction, communication, restricted and repetitive interests and behaviours, and sensory sensitivities. The word spectrum reflects the wide range of challenges that people on the spectrum experience and the extent to which they may be affected. An estimated 1 in 70 Australians are on the autism spectrum; that is around 353,880 people. Research has shown the quality of life for many children and adults can be significantly improved by an early diagnosis and appropriate, evidence informed treatment.

With this in mind, Barrack Heights Public School has completed phase one of our sensory-rich playground for students across the full range of abilities. Friday 5 April, we will be fundraising for phase two. All students are encouraged to wear blue and students from our support unit will be selling delicious donuts at lunch and recess. Please give generously!

What: Blue Mufti Day and Donut Stall

When: Friday 5th April, 2024

Cost: Gold coin donation for wearing mufti and $2 per donut
