Inspired by the beautiful picture book Florette by Anna Walker, our amazing class Djindjingara has brought their learning to life...literally!
In Florette, young Mae finds herself missing her lush garden after moving to a grey, concrete city… so she creates her own! Taking Mae’s story to heart, our students stepped into her shoes and got their hands dirty today, planting their very own class garden.
This hands-on experience has sparked creativity, connection, and care for the environment, just like Mae’s journey. We couldn’t be prouder of the thoughtful, joyful learning growing in Djindjingara! Thank you, Ms Lewis, Ms Brooker and our G.A. Rob for this experience.
Oliver B & Khaylie A represented Barrack Heights Public School on Friday last week at the Regional Cross Country Carnival. The cold, wet and windy conditions didn't discourage our representatives! They gave it their all and we are so proud of them both!
On Tuesday, 4 of our stage 3 girls joined forces with schools from our district to create a tackle football team. They had such a great day, learning the skills of tackle.
Ariana and Keeley have been selected in the Mid-South District side! Congratulations girls!
This week, our PBS focus is on being respectful by learning how to speak up for ourselves in an appropriate way. It's important that students feel confident to express their needs, wants, and opinions—but equally important that they do so using a calm tone of voice, polite language, and respectful body language.
At school, we are teaching students how to use “I” statements, ask for help when needed, and resolve disagreements without shouting or blaming. These skills help build strong relationships, support emotional regulation, and create a positive learning environment.
You can support this at home by encouraging your child to practise expressing themselves respectfully and by modelling calm, confident communication in everyday situations.
