As we wrap up Term 2, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and involvement in the Barrack Heights school community. Your engagement has made this term truly special, and we have seen our students thrive in an enriching and collaborative environment.
Looking ahead, we are excited about all that Term 3 has to offer! There are many events and activities planned that will provide our students with incredible opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with one another.
To ensure you don’t miss out on any important reminders or calendar notices, please make sure you are connected to our School Bytes app and receiving notifications. This will help you stay updated on all the happenings and ensure your family is fully engaged in our school community.
Thank you once again for your dedication and support. Here’s to a fantastic Term 3 ahead!
We are reaching out to remind everyone of the importance of keeping track of personal belongings, specifically school uniforms. We have had quite an increase in calls and emails about missing hats and jackets.
To help manage this, we kindly ask that you take a moment to ensure all your child's belongings are clearly labelled with their name. This simple step can make a significant difference in returning lost items to their rightful owners.
As we prepare for the return to school next term, we encourage you to remind your children of the importance of being responsible for their belongings. Please talk to them about the importance of putting their hat or jacket into their school bag when they take it off. By doing so, they can help keep track of their items and reduce the chance of these items going missing.
If by chance your child has accidentally brought home an item with another student's name on it, please return it to the school at your earliest convenience. Your cooperation in this matter will greatly assist us in maintaining a more organised and efficient environment for everyone.
Thank you for your attention and support in helping our students learn the importance of responsibility and care for their belongings.
We are thrilled to invite all students on Tuesday the 29th of July to join in celebrating 100 Days of Learning, a special day dedicated to recognising the hard work, growth, and achievements they have made over the past 100 days! This celebration offers an opportunity for students to reflect on the knowledge and skills they have gained, the challenges they have overcome, and the friendships they have built along the way.
On this exciting day, we will undertake a variety of fun activities to highlight each student’s learning journey. Students can anticipate a range of engaging activities, interactive games, and chances to highlight their projects and achievements. Additionally, there will be opportunities for students to collaborate with their peers, share their experiences, and inspire one another.

Pyjama Day for Stewart House!
Get cosy for a cause! We're holding a Pyjama Day to raise money for Stewart House, a place that supports children in need with health, education, and emotional well-being programs. Wear your favourite PJs to school, bring a gold coin donation, and help make a difference in the lives of Aussie kids. Let’s snuggle up and show our support!
As part of our SRC initiatives we are also going to hold a Meal Deal on that day for students to purchase. Watch this space for more information next term.
At Barrack Heights, we believe that education is about academic achievement AND about developing well-rounded individuals who can navigate the complexities of life.
We know that when children have the skills of resilience, emotional regulation and perspective, they will do better socially, academically and physically. Next term we will be diving into the Grow Your Mind program, with the aim to provide our students with the tools and resources they need to thrive in all areas of their lives.
We wanted to share some important information about the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD), which all schools in Australia participate in each year. This process helps us gather information about the support we provide to students with disabilities, ensuring we meet the requirements set by the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and the Disability Standards for Education 2005.
Here’s what you need to know about the NCCD:
What Information is Collected? We provide details like the year your child is in, the category of their disability (whether physical, cognitive, sensory, or social/emotional), and the level of support they receive. This might range from everyday teaching adjustments to more substantial or extensive support. We include both diagnosed disabilities as well as situations where significant support is provided based on observed needs, even if there isn’t a formal diagnosis (known as “imputed” disabilities).
Why is This Important? The data helps us recognise the support we offer to students with disabilities and allows us to improve our practices. It also helps state and federal governments plan better resources and support for these students.
Your Child’s Privacy Matters: I want to reassure you that the NCCD will not affect your child directly, and there’s no testing involved. The information we share is completely confidential, meaning no individual student can be identified. We take privacy very seriously and follow strict laws to protect personal information. For more details on privacy, you can check the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy here.
Want to Learn More? You can find more information about the NCCD on the NCCD Portal here.
If you have any questions or concerns about the NCCD or how it relates to your child, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the school.
Thank you for your support!
As we begin Term 3, our PBS focus is on keeping ourselves and others safe by moving quietly and carefully around the school. This includes walking in walkways, keeping hands and feet to ourselves, and using indoor voices. These behaviours help ensure everyone feels calm, respected, and ready to learn.
You can support this focus at home by discussing the importance of body awareness, personal space, and how moving safely shows respect for others in shared spaces.
